ati radeon 9800pro
1.5gb of corsair dual channel ddr3200

You shouldn't need to turn down any settings, this game should run well on a machine much lower than that. You may want to lower them anyway just to see if that fixes it, and if it does you should contact ANet about it. I'm sure they'd like to know why your machine is having problems with the game.

I don't really know what it could be...your connection perhaps. *shrugs* sorry I can't be of much help, hope you figure it out.

What do you mean by "lags"? Also, what version of Windows are you running and what drivers for video and sound? What resolution are you playing on? What type of monitor (LCD/CRT)?

the game shouldn't be lagging with sys. reqs. like those...my comp build is:
2.0ghz athlon xp
ati radeon 9600SE
512mb ram

works fine for me, except for a little bit of frame lag which mite be due to connection between client and server...other than that, it plays like a dream.

You get the frame lag from your 9600se because it's a value version of a 9600 line card. I doubt internet connection could be causing this unless you're on a 33.6 connection or your cable/dsl line is oversold in your area to too many customers.

the thing is that i'm able to play games like HL2 with my budget card at 1024x768 res medium quality and it barely lagged the entire time i was playing, even on parts where there was lots of things going on (notably the beginning of nova prospekt i think)...at any rate, those little lags occur only a few times while i'm playing GW so i'm able to tolerate it (plus i can't afford a new vid card so i have to deal with what i have lol)...

Maybe your memory timings? I think Corsair is supposed to have custom timings which you would have to adjust in the BIOS setup.

One question:

When you say lag, are you talking about a rubber band effect (where your character slowly stops moving, and then is stuck in one place then suddenly "catches up" to where it should be) or bad FPS rate?

Could be your GPU getting a little too warm every so often, maybe.
